Presence of US vessels in Persian Gulf down by 83%: Cmdr.

Kish, IRNA – With the vigilance and deterrence capability of Iranian military forces, the presence of US vessels in the Persian Gulf has declined by 83%, according to an air defense commander stationed in south of Iran.

Brigadier General Nasrollah Houshmand said on Tuesday that some years ago more than 100 US vessels used to commute in the Persian Gulf waters each day, adding that the number has now plummeted to around 17 thanks to the daily monitoring and deterrent warnings issued by Iranian forces in the region.

That comes as commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy's First Zone Rear Admiral Abbas Gholamshahi had said earlier this week that all vessels entering the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf in southern Iran are under the round-the-clock control and monitoring of the Iranian forces.

The commander said the IRGC Navy had closely monitored the movement late on Friday of the American vessel 'Paul Hamilton' which was reportedly carrying three top commanders of the American, English, and French naval forces.

He said the vessel was monitored by IRGC reconnaissance drones and patrol vessels of the Zulfiqar Brigade.
